在辅音字母里面，字母Ｈ一般发摩擦音[h],或者不发音（voiceless）。字母Ｈ可以与其它辅音字母组合一起发音，Ｈ双字母组合有五个：ch、gh、 ph、 sh 、th，它们的读音分别归纳如下：
 

一、ＣＨ组合
 

１.字母CH组合读[k]，例如：school [sku:l] ache [e?k] stomach[?st?m?k] mechanics [m??k?n?k] chemistry [?kem?stri];

２.字母CH组合读[?]，例如：machine [m??i:n] chef [?ef]

二、ＧＨ组合
 

１.字母ＧＨ组合读[f]，例如：laugh [lɑ:f] enough [??n?f] cough [k?f] tough[t?f] rough[r?f]

２.字母ＧＨ组合读不发音（voiceless）,例如：light [lait]fight [fait]high[hai] night[nait] eight[eit] weight[weit] neighbor[ne?b?] daughter[?d?:t?(r)] through[θru:] though[e??]

三、ＰＨ组合
 

字母PH组合读[f]，例如：phone [f?un] photo [f?ut?u] dolphin [d?lfin] elephant [elif?nt] telephone [telif?un] geography [d?i?gr?fi] physics [fiziks] telegraph [teligrɑf]

四、ＳＨ组合

五、ＴＨ组合
 

１.字母TH组合读浊音[e]，例如：that [e?t] this [eis] father [fɑ:e?] these [ei:z] they [eei] brother [br?e?] with [wie] other [?e?]；

２.字母TH组合读清音[θ]，例如：think [θi?k] thing [θi?] something [s?mθi?] math [m?θ] health [helθ] third [θ?:d] thousand [θauz?nd] south [sauθ] thin [θin] truth [tru:θ] thanks [θ??ks]
