Make Our Cities Greener
In recent years, many trees and flowers have been planted in and around all the cities of China. Some cities have already changed their faces. They look green now. But most cities haven’t changed much. There are fewer trees along the streets, let alone lawns①. We are facing a great task to make our cities greener.
It is very important to make our cities greener. Trees and flowers are beneficial to our health because they absorb carbon-dioxide② and produce oxygen. They also can improve the micro-climate③ of the cities, making hot weather cool. In addition, they can beautify④ our cities, and turn them into lovely gardens.
How can we make our cities greener? First, we should plant more trees and flowers. Besides, we should carefully look after the planted trees and flowers. No one should be allowed to tread⑤ on grass, break off branches or pluck⑥ flowers. Of course, we should also learn gardening⑦ so as to protect the trees and flowers we have planted. In order to make our cities greener, March 12 is fixed by our country as a day for planting trees. Cities belong to us all. Let’s love them and make them greener.
